We can smell the Spring already, but Winter is still not saying goodbye and to make the best out of the days we have left, why not hit the slopes and have some fun on the snow. This time I'm going to talk about Rogla, a ski resort I feel very close to, because my dad has roots from that area. Also, when I lived in Celje we had some great sunny weekends there, since it is only about 45 minutes to get there, which means it's also great for a day trip or even just a morning ski/snowboard session.
Or course, it can as well be a great destination for those hot summer days when you just want to escape somewhere, because the temperature is usually a little lower than in the valley, so you can make a great hiking trip and visit Lovrenška lakes.
I had luck with the weather on Saturday, it was a beautiful sunny day. Blue skies, fresh snow, not too cold, sunny. You couldn't wish for more really. I stayed in Hotel Natura which is situated right next to the cross-country polygon and it has amazing views from the rooms and terrace. The most spectacular for me were sunrises and sunsets. Beautiful, as you can see on the photo below.
I don't know, this fresh crispy winter air has it's own charms when standing on a balcony, freezing your ass off and enjoying the views. It's totally worth it. ;) Oh, and the terrace in front of the hotel is great to get some vitamin D while enjoying your coffee. I took this shots on Sunday though, when it was windy and cold so I can't really show you how great it looks, so you'll just have to trust my words. ;)
I went there without my snowboard gear. So smart, I know. I don't really know what I was thinking, obviously not too much, so I had to make the most of it anyway. I went for a 3h hike until I was frozen enough to go back to the hotel and get warm by the fireplace in the common area (I love fireplaces, but who doesn't, right?). I had a reservation at the spa for a face treatment and then I wanted to check out saunas, because I knew they are great and I was not wrong! :) We all know that sauna in winter time it's like nutella pancakes. Too good to miss it out! ;)
Honestly, for me the best two features of the hotel are it's location and wellness. I'd definitely recommend to book a face/body treatment or maybe a massage, something to treat yourself a bit, why not? They know what they're doing and I like that, a lot. The girl (I think her name was Monika) that did my face treatment was lovely and very professional. So, big thumbs up for you M.! (oh god, I hope I remembered the name right. I'm not good with names. Bad, bad memory). :D
It's really hard to take photos in sauna when you have (naked) people around, so I took some shots in the morning before I left. I didn't want to push my luck and someone would attack the paparazzi Maja. My fighting skills are close to zero. ;)
They have five saunas and one of them is a panoramic one, wow! It's a nice refreshment, since I haven't been in a sauna with a view on the forrest and alps before. :) There is also a whirlpool outside, so the cold can't get ya, tanana na na! And, when inside the saunas, you will feel one with nature, since the interior is very natural and focused on the feeling as you would spend your time at the Lovrenška lakes.
I took some shots in the room, because I'm sure there are plenty of those generic ones to find elsewhere. They have a large, bright dinning room though, so probably there's where you're going to enjoy your morning cup of joy.
With this I'm finishing this post. I hope you guys enjoyed it, leave a comment or click on the thumbs up, so I'll know you've been here. ;) Thank you <3
